Surf's UpThe Atlantic coast of Spain is a magnet for sports' enthusiasts,and the beaches of Isla Canela are the perfect place for kitesurfers and windsurfers. The highly prized beaches are very safe with a sandbank out to sea where “almejas” (mussels) can be fished; these provide an ideal sheltered location for people learning to kitesurf and windsurf - they are regularly used by expert kitesurfers for instruction, and for their own enjoyment. There are several wind and kitesufing schools on the beach during the months of July and August, with lifeboats at hand. It is also possible to hire boats. It is helpful if you have some experience, as well as navigation licences for larger sailing and motor boats.
